Game Modes
Creeper Mode

Creeper Mode (CRM)
Introduction:
V1
Primary Creature:
Creeper
Length:
2 minuten
Location:
The Arena
Status:
Used
Overview
Creeper Mode started everything. This is the first Game Mode in Creature Combart. in Creeper Mode, you have to fight creepers in the Arena. If you survive 8 waves across 2 minutes, you've won and you'll be sent back to the Spawn Area.
Easy and Hard Mode
Easy Mode was the first mode created for Creature Combat. The Arena used to be smaller, but when Creature Combat underwent a complete overhaul in v1.3, Creeper Mode was split into Easy Mode and Hard Mode. Easy Mode represents what Creeper Mode used to be. No special additions were made to Easy Mode. On the other hand, Hard Mode is the challenging version of Easy Mode. In Hard Mode, creepers will spawn with shorter fuses, meaning they will explode faster. Additionally, more creepers will spawn, a higher percentage of them will be charged, and there will be special attacks such as potions, slowness, TNT, and smoke. Lastly, Artifacts are less rare in Hard Mode. Hard Mode is designed to be difficult, so it's useful to strategize when playing this game mode.
Kits
In v2.2, Game Mode Kits were added for Creeper, Skeleton, and Drowned Mode. For Creeper Mode, these kits are 'Tank', 'Blast Challenge', and 'Creeper'.
Skeleton Mode

Skeleton Mode (SKM)
Introduction:
v1.1
Primary Creatures:
Skeleton
Wither Skeleton
Length:
2 minuten
Location:
The Arena
Status:
Used
Overview
In Skeleton Mode, you have to fight skeletons and wither skeletons in the Arena. If you survive 8 waves across 2 minutes, you've won and you'll be sent back to the Spawn Area. You can find this Gmae Mode by using the Mode Selector.
Easy and Hard Mode
Easy Mode was added in v1.1. However, you may have noticed that you couldn't find
Skeleton Mode. There was no Mode Selector, no button or platform to access Skeleton
Mode. That's because Skeleton Mode was a secret game mode. If you went to the
trading room, there were ghost blocks that you could pass through. Then, you could
press a button to enter a separate Skeleton Mode Arena with different kits. Starting
from v1.3, Skeleton Mode was no longer a secret, and you could start the game from a
white platform. You would spawn in a different Arena than the Creeper Mode Arena. It
wasn't until v2.1 that you could play Skeleton Mode within the Arena itself.
In Easy Mode, you can encounter both regular and wither skeletons. No strays. Wither
skeletons can wield both swords and bows. Wither skeletons with bows shoot fire arrows,
because of how Minecraft works. Other than that, there isn't much difference compared
to Creeper Mode.
Hard Mode is the more challenging version of Easy Mode. In this mode, more skeletons
spawn, a higher percentage of them are wither skeletons, and their bows/swords are
often enchanted. Usually with Power/Sharpness III or Fire Aspect. There are also special
attacks, including smoke, TNT, slowness, and potions. The chance of obtaining an
artifact from a skeleton is higher as well. Hard Mode is designed to be difficult, so
it's useful to come up with a strategy beforehand.
Kits
In v2.2, Game Mode Kits were added for Creeper, Skeleton, and Drowned Mode. For Skeleton Mode, these kits are 'Shield', 'Projectile Challenge', and 'Skeleton'.
Drowned Mode

Drowned Mode (DRM)
Introduction:
v2.1
Primary Creature:
Drowned
Length:
2 minuten
Location:
The Arena
Status:
Used
Overview
Drowned Mode is the most recent game mode added to Creature Combat. In this mode, you fight against Drowned in a three dimensions underwater. To win the game, you need to survive 8 waves across 2 minutes, after which you will be teleported to the Spawn Area. In Drowned Mode, you fight in three dimensions instead of the usual two. The Arena is flooded, and there are various obstacles in the y-axis. You can access this game mode by using the Mode Selector.
Easy and Hard Mode
Easy Mode was added in v2.1, but it was way too easy. In v2.2, it was made a bit more challenging. The stronger variants of Drowned in Easy Mode have a Heart of the Sea on their head and/or a trident in their hands. They also have Conduit particles around them, which inflict Poison IV if you get too close. Don't worry, poison cannot kill you. Hard Mode was also added in v2.1 but this one was excessively difficult and laggy. It was adjusted to be more manageable and optimized in v2.2. In Hard Mode, numerous Drowned spawn with tridents, as well as Drowned with Hearts of the Sea on their heads. Additionally, there are special attacks that are even more challenging to evade, including TNT, smoke, slowness, and potions. It can be useful to strategize before engaging in Hard Mode.
Kits
In v2.2, Game Mode Kits were added for Creeper, Skeleton, and Drowned Mode. For Drowned Mode, the available kits are 'Drowned Pirate', 'Underwater Challenge', and 'Drowned'.
Player Arena

Player Arena (PA)
Introduction:
v2.5
Primary Creature:
Differs per Game Mode
Length:
2 minutes
Location:
The Arena
Status:
Used
Overview
Player Arena is a multiplayer game mode that combines Creature Combat with PvP. Player Arena can be combined with any other primary game mode. You can start Player Arena by having one player stand on the PA platform and another on the Easy or Hard Mode platform.
Differences
There are two differences between normal game modes and Player Arena. The first is that you can attack each other in Player Arena, while this is not possible in Easy or Hard Mode without Player Arena being activated. The second is that your spawn point in Player Arena is in the Arena, so if you die from a creature or player, you'll have another chance to fight back.
Campfire Quest

Campfire Quest (CQ)
Introduction:
V13

v2.5
Primary Creature:
Creeper
Length:
Decided by Player
Location:
Campfire Quest Arena
Status:
Removed
Overview
Campfire Quest was a Game Mode where you could choose when a new wave begins. You could only start this Game Mode outside of Story Mode on the platform opposite Hard Mode. All creepers spawned around a campfire in a different arena. Once all waves were completed, you could choose to end the game yourself.
The game
Once you're inside the arena, you can start the next wave in the chat. However, it's important to note that you need to have cheats enabled (especially on servers and LAN worlds) in order to start a new wave. Each wave consists of a certain number of creepers around one or two campfires. After the fifth wave, you can choose to end the game. Once the game ends, you won't be able to play Campfire Quest for the next 2.5 minutes. The text above the platform will turn dark red. After those 2.5 minutes, you will receive a message in the chat indicating that a new Campfire Quest is available. If you restart the world during a Campfire Quest game, the only way to return is to find the button that ends the game and brings you back to the Spawn Area.
Artifacts
Before v2.3, there were three special Campfire Quest Artifacts. These were Bronze, Nautilus and Tear Artifacts. These have been removed in v2.3 to make the map simpler.
Removed
Campfire Quest was removed in v2.5 because it will become a spin-off map of Creature Combat in the future. It is set to take place two years before the events of Creature Combat, when Fedi discovers the Arena. You will help him build the map. The map does not ave a release date yet.
Tutorial Mode

Tutorial Mode (TUM)

Location:

Status:
Removed
Overview
Tutorial Mode is a Game Mode where Fleru guides you through the map and explains various elements. She can help you with different things, such as how to defeat a creeper or unlock a Kit. You can only play this Game Mode during Story Mode. The platform for Tutorial Mode can be found opposite the Hard Mode platform.
The game
When you are in the Arena, you will see a list of all the tutorials, indicated by
different colors for different categories. By clicking on the text, you can access
that specific tutorial. At the end of the tutorial, you will be returned to the Spawn
Area. You can also click on the bottom option to go back to the Spawn Area.
There are a total of seven tutorials available, which are: How to Kill a (Charged)
Creeper, How to Kill a (Wither) Skeleton, How to Kill a (Poison/Trident) Drowned,
What to do with Creature Loot, What to do with Shop Items, How to get Creeper
Heads, and What to do with Kit Keys.
Removed
Tutorial Mode was removed in v2.5 because the text quickly became difficult to read and there were several tricky bugs in it. The platform was replaced by the Player Arena platform with the same color.
Crafting Course

Crafting Course (CRC)
Introduction:
v1.0
Removed:
v2.3
Primary Creature:
Creeper
Length:
Decided by Player
Location:
Crafting Course Arena
Status:
Removed
Overview
Crafting Course was a Game Mode in which you had to collect items from chests to craft specific items. However, beware: some of the chests were trapped chests that would spawn creepers! This Game Mode was eventually removed because it was deemed too complex and to make room for new features in the map.
The game
In the chests of Crafting Course, you could find various items. These items were not
randomized, so if you could remember their locations, you could navigate through the
course more efficiently. All the loot found in the chests was usable. However, be
cautious as chests with better loot were often trapped. If you died, you would lose
all your items and respawn at the Spawn Area.
There were a total of 26 trapped chests in Crafting Course. However, not all trapped
chests had command blocks underneath them, and not all command blocks had commands at
all. It was always uncertain whether a chest would spawn a creeper, unless you already
knew which chests were trapped.
Crafting
Through the arena, you could find crafting recipes. You could memorize them and then place the items in the Item Crafter in exactly the right positions. If you placed the items in the correct positions, the items would disappear. Then, the item you wanted to craft would appear on top of the Item Crafter. See below the list of items you could craft:
-
TNT
-
Ender Pearl
-
Cat Spawn Egg
-
Arrow of Poison
-
Arrow of Decay
-
Enchanted Golden Apple
-
Plantlife Kit
-
Pyromancer Kit
Kits
In Crafting Course, you could craft kits. If you managed to accomplish this, you could collect the kit in the More Game Modes room. You could find the kits in the chests next to the platform.

v2.3
Primary Creature:
Creeper
Length:

Location:
Dummy Arena
Status:
Removed
Overview
Dummy Arena was a Game Mode where you could spawn creepers by pressing a button. These would spawn Dummy Creepers that couldn't explode. Dummy Arena was removed because it wasn't necessary to keep the Game Mode. However, the concept of Dummy Arena can be found in the Deathroom Dummies, which replaced Dummy Arena.
The game
In the arena, you could find a button that would spawn creepers. These creepers couldn't explode. It may seem like they could explode at first, but you quickly realized that nothing happened. These were Dummy Creepers. Other than that, they had the same AI, health, and so on.
Kit-Finder Mode

Kit-Finder Mode (KFM)
Introduction:
v1.4
Removed:
v2.2
Primary Creature:
Creeper
Length:
1 minuut
Location:
Kit-Finder Mode Arena
Status:
Removed
Overview
Kit-Finder Mode was a Game Mode added in v1.4. However, starting from v1.6, you could only play it if you cheated out of the map. Two updates after its release, the Game Mode became unused. This was because there was a deadline during v1.4, which didn't allow much time to properly develop the Game Mode. In v1.5, you couldn't start the Game Mode like the rest of the Game Modes already anymore. You had to win the Arrow Shooter in the Deathroom to be able to play the game. In v1.6, it could only be played by cheating. In v2.2, the game was completely removed. In the game, you had to find armor yourself in the arena.
The game
When the game started, you would be in a different arena than the main Arena. Around you, you could find concrete blocks where the creepers would spawn. You could also find item frames with items inside them. If you died, you would respawn back in the arena. The game would end after one minute.
Original Quest

Original Quest (OQ)
Introduction:
V12
Removed:
v1.1
Primary Creature:
Creeper
Length:
Decided by Player
Location:
Original Quest Arena
Status:
Removed
Overview
The Original Quest, or simply 'Quest' as it was called in-game, is a Game Mode where you had to survive in very small rooms until you defeated all the creepers. Once there were no more creepers left, you could press a button to receive good loot. The button that sent you to the Original Quest would disappear. After a few minutes, the button would reappear and you could restart the game. It was the first Game Mode to be added since Creeper Mode.
The game
Upon spawning, creepers would spawn in 5 waves. They were not much different from the ones in Creeper Mode. The only difference was that these creepers did not drop any Artifacts (which were diamonds, emeralds, and nether stars back then). After the fifth wave, a button would appear in one of the rooms. Pressing that button would reward you with two diamonds, two emeralds, and two nether stars.
Removed
The Game Mode was removed due to too many bugs. To name a few, you couldn't start a second game, and the only way to exit was by pressing the button that rewarded you with loot. The button would also appear before all the creepers were eliminated, which was a bug that could be fixed in five minutes. There were more bugs in v12 than in v12.1, the only update with ".1" appended to it. Eventually, the Game Mode was replaced by Campfire Quest, which also featured 5 waves, a waiting period between games, and, of course, creepers. One thing is certain: to make Creature Combat a better map, some things had to go wrong.
Cake Mode

Cake Mode
Versie:
3 Year Anniversary
Primary Creature:
Creeper
Length:
2 minuten
Location:
KFM Arena
Status:
Removed
Overview
Cake Mode was a game mode where you needed to eat cakes to win. You had to do that within 2 minutes, otherwise, you'd lose. You could get hunger by standing on a pressure plate.
The game
All the cakes were placed in different locations. One was on a table full of festive decorations, another was at the end of a very easy maze, and one was in a room that required parkour skills to reach. To win the game, it was crucial to develop a strategy. Due to the open nature of the map, you could access almost everywhere more easily, but if you became too hungry, you wouldn't be able to run in time. Therefore, it was wise to pay attention to your hunger level and manage it carefully.

Trivia
Because Creeper Mode used to be the only mode, the function file for playing Creeper Mode is called 'play_easy_mode'. Skeleton Mode is called 'play_skeleton_mode' and Drowned Mode is called 'play_drowned_mode'.
The entire map is based on the minigame Creeper Survival in 4Wonders, where you also had to fight against creepers with kits.
Hard Mode from V6 was a button that gave the player the Weakness potion effect.
The Creeper kit used to have a real creeper head, which allowed you to buy rare items for free.
Skeleton Mode was the first Game Mode without Creepers.
You used to be able to obtain regular skeleton skulls.
All skeletons have skulls on their heads to prevent them from burning.
Between v1.4 and v2.0, the Skeleton Mode portals were brown and green in color.
Drowned Mode was planned since v1.2.
It took five hours to add Drowned Mode and the Drowned Mode Arena.
Campfire Quest is a replacement for the Original Quest.
Campfire Quest was supposed to have special kits.
Campfire Quest is a Main Game Mode since v2.1.
The waiting time in Campfire Quest is not determined by scoreboard objectives but by a growing cow.
There were actually supposed to be 8 tutorials. The eighth one would be: How to Use Certain Kits.
Tutorial Mode and Campfire Quest share the same platform.
The color of Tutorial Mode is the same as the portal that took you to the More Game Modes Room before v2.3.
Dummy Arena was the fastest-made Game Mode ever.
Dummy Arena did not change between v1.5 and v2.3, except for a few bug fixes.
Dummy Arena is replaced by the Deathroom Dummies.
Kit-Finder Mode was the only game mode where you could play without a kit.
The Skeleton Mode Arena replaced the Original Quest arena.
The space between the game and the Spawn Area does not match the Original Quest arena.
Campfire Quest was of all game modes (except Creeper Mode) the longest in the game, from V13 up until v2.5. It's been in the game for 13 versions.
